PROFURL
Basic headsail reefing-furling systems are designed for
boats from 5 m to 13.50 m (15 to 44 ft) LOA, for coastal
or semi-extensive cruising.
They have most of the exclusive (patented) features of
the PROFURL design: easy installation and use, long lasting
and a legendary reliability.
For these obvious reasons, PROFURL Basic systems have
been chosen by a large number of quality production boatbuilders.
PROFURL Basic systems are specified by the largest charter
companies because quality is essential in this application.
Just as with all PROFURL systems they require no maintenance.
They are covered by a 5 year worldwide warranty. |

Fit
to the top of the stay:
Prevents
halyard wrap around the forestay.
Keeps spinnaker
halyard clear from halyard swivel.
Prevents
overhoisting of the swivel if the sail is too long or too tight.
Avoids
drilling holes in the mast to fit bales or blocks; eliminates
halyard chafe and the added stress of bales or blocks. |
 |
 |
Hardened carbon steel ball bearings lubricated for life with
an electrolytic action grease, and permanently sealed with a
double-lip seal:
Totally
maintenance free system, because it is 100% waterproof (salt
water, too!).
Runs smoothly
even when under high loads.
Rotation of genoa head is synchronized with the luff groove:
No stress
on the head of the sail. |
 |
 |
Self
locking couplings machined to exacting specifications:
Installation
is easy and safe.
Perfect
connection alignment of extrusions.
Couplings
are securely locked at each joint.
Torque induced locking of the couplings:
Assures
continuous secure alignment of luff grooves.
Assembly with compound-locked screws:
Enables
easy dismantling for storage, transportation or forestay inspection. |
 |
 |
Graphite-nylon
material:
No corrosion
or chafe on the cable.
Smooth
rotation around the forestay.
Long bushings:
No chafe
after 50,000 nautical miles, especially the top bushing which
is heavily loaded.
Bushing is fixed in the coupling:
Position
of the bushing is secured and safe. |
 |
 |
Asymetrical
luff groove shape:
Makes hoisting
easy
Prevents
bolt rope jamming in the groove.
Optimizes
aerodynamic performance.
Extrusions of a unique high-tech highly resistant aluminium
alloy:
Optimizes
torque resistance in areas of maximum stress and bending are
maximum.
Allows
winching the genoa if necessary. |
 |
 |
Thick
polypropylene material, the same as used for automobiles bumpers:
Resists
extreme impact; dent-proof, crack-proof.
No corrosion.
Unaffected
by U.V.
Conical edges of the flanges:
Pulls the
furling line automatically to the middle of the drum preventing
jamming of the line. Open drum:
Furling
line is always visible and easily accessible.
No potential
jamming of the furling line as possible with a closed drum.
No lead arm:
No chance
of jamming with a loop or not in the furling line.
No chance
of twisting or damage when handling an anchor or spinnaker pole.
Slippery material:
No jamming
of the furling line against the flanges.
Drum in two halves (B35):
Furling
line is attached to an aluminium fitting inside the drum cylinder
avoiding damage to the drum in case the line is winched when
the drum is totally empty.

Hardened
carbon steel ball bearings lubricated for life with an electrolytic
action grease and permanently sealed with a double-lip seal:
Totally
maintenance free system, because it is 100% waterproof (salt
water, too!).
Runs smoothly
even when heavily loaded.
Adjustable tack:
Easily
makes up for sail stretch.
Allows
easy below-deck installation with a standard system.
The tack
can be lowered to maximize luff length and sail area.
While sailing
offshore the tack can be raised lifting the foot of the sail.
The drum mechanism is secured at the bottom end of the forestay
with a corrosion-free fitting
Permits
instant accessibility of the turnbuckle even on a tight stay
for adjustment and/or inspection.
Results
in perfect centring of the lower stay terminal inside the system.
